Wrong turn could have been the end for mall-bound pair

Donetta Thurman and James Newborn just had to get to the mall -- even if it meant a 2,000-mile drive through Alaska's winter wilderness.
But they took a dangerous turn on the road to West Edmonton Mall -- a shopping shrine in Canada -- and got stuck in deep snow on the Denali Highway, some 160 miles off course in Interior Alaska, on a road where stranded travelers have died in the past.
They got lucky. The Alaska State Troopers rescued them....
